The 2nd TranSEHA Young Researchers Seminar: “ Archaeomagnetism”

The 2nd TranSEHA Young Researchers Seminar, focusing on the theme of “Archaeomagnetism,” was held in a hybrid format at Okayama University of Science on October 14–15, 2025.

The seminar covered the following topics:
• Paleomagnetism, Rock Magnetism, and Archaeomagnetism
• Topics Related to Archaeomagnetism
• Procedures and Methods in Archaeomagnetic Research
• Archaeomagnetic Data and Databases

Through lectures and practical sessions, participants learned the fundamentals of paleomagnetism and rock magnetism, which provide the scientific background for archaeomagnetic research, as well as the entire process of archaeomagnetic investigation—from sample collection and measurement to data analysis and interpretation.
Using actual samples and measurement instruments, participants also explored the current status of archaeomagnetic research and the challenges that need to be addressed in the future.
Discussions were held on how the strengths and expertise of different research fields could be integrated and applied to archaeomagnetic research.
